As soon as completed his MFA program in Pittsburgh, he chose to move to NYC to pursue his dream career of a sound designer for Broadway musicals. His passion for musical theatre brought him straight to NYC, through his journey from his home town, Tokyo, Japan.
He was impressed by musical theatre and calls it as an "ultimate art form," because it involves all of the artistic fields in them; where actors and dancers on stage, musicians in a pit, choreograph of massive pieces of sets and lights - all elements are working together perfectly to seamlessly unfold the story in front of live audience.
He keeps work and study hard to brush up the skills to reach his ideal as a sound designer; these 3 elements are the essentials for his ideal.
Conceptual sound for plays: sound scape, ambience, reflection of emotional dynamics to drive the story.
Technical sound for musicals: Integration of scientific approach to the physics of sound to create the best spatial reaction in the audience, and the artistic response to music and voice to
maximize the dynamics of storytelling.
Music Composition: Expression of emotions, moment, environment as a tool for story-telling
My design and engineering work span from On and Off-Broadway productions to major regional theaters.
Having fallen in love with Broadway musicals, he had made this lifetime decision to come from Tokyo, Japan, to commit to create original theatrical productions in New York City.
I find values in working toward goals in a team and share the achievement with the colleagues. In the creative process of theatre productions, I appreciate the aspect of collaborative work to achieve one artistic goal among specialists in their own fields.
